Just what is Human Power and what does it mean?
Can you travel that far without motored machine?
Well let me spell it out so you get the idea,
It seems kind of crazy, but its perfectly clear!
H is for human, an endeavor of sorts
Bike and kayak to Sydney, now that’s my kind of sport.
U’s simply U and the statement of use
Does this thing really work, can it take this abuse?
M is for mountain, the highest of hill
The toughest of challenges they keep coming still
A is for ailment, my god I feel ill!
It can’t be malaria, I’m taking this pill!
N gives you nausea the headaches have started
Is it just these bikes and canoes to be carted?!
P is for panniers, no big bags for us
The backpackers backpack takes up half a bus!
O is for ordinary, days there’ve been none
Always something novel, plain bizarre or fun
W means wildlife, those beasts great and small
From the lizards of Laos to elephants in Nepal
E is for effort, the pain and the tears
Made surely worthwhile by the laughter and beers!
R is for restaurant in its loosest of terms
So long as its deep fried that should kill the germs!
R again is repeats, more plate fulls of rice
Or how about noodles, a change would be nice!
O is for others and the help we all get
So many new friends and great people we’ve met
U’s for umbrella, come rain, hail or shine
Whatever the weather I wish I had mine!
N is for notebook, for diaries or tales
A record of events for when memory fails
D represents dilemma - where to go, what to do?
Perhaps sit in a café for an hour or two
T is for tiger, we’ve heard they’re around, but
They’ve only been parked and never been found
H is for the highs, artificial or real
However they’re achieved, these hold the appeal
E is for email, we’re on it for hours
Some more than others are ensnared by its powers!
W’s for work, what is that again?
Well let me remind you its nothing but pain!
O is for Oz and our journeys end, but
Will it be February or March, that depends!
R is for rest days and a chance to relax
To catch up on books or just lie on our backs
L is for late nights some are keener than others
But I think for tonight we are all due another!
And so finally to D which is our destiny - the reason we’re here

It is all down to Richard and Andrews idea
To travel the world, keeping distances small
Even though some of us joined in Nepal
With others now home, some have gone and returned
To not have this once in a lifetime’s chance spurned
To travel with friends, even wife and brother
It’s sometimes been hard to live with one another
That we’re all here as one, with one common aim
Will help is succeed in this and life’s little game
So here is to one year and achievements so far
To success, health, happiness and lack of a car!
